| Kala Bhairava Ashtami, also known as Mahakal Bhairav Astami or Kalabhairav Jayanti, is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Kalabhairav, fierce form of Lord Shiva. It is observed on Margashirsh Krishna Paksha Ashtami day as per traditional North Indian Hindu calendar. Kalabhairavashtami 2010 Kalashatami 2010, also known as Kalbhairav Jayanti 2010 date is November 29th. As per the other calendars, it falls on Kartik Krishna Ashtami. Devotees of Lord Shiva observe fast on this day and worship the Lord with utmost fervor. Kalashtami is observed in every month on the eighth day after Purnima. But the Margashirsh Krishna Ashtami is very auspicious as the day that marks Mahakaal Bhairav Jayanti. It is believed that on this day, Lord Kala Bhairav appeared on Earth. Mahakaal bhairav, the presiding deity of Varanasi and Ujjain, is incarnated to behead head-strong Brahma.
