Vishnupati punya kaalam is an auspicious time for Vishnu Bhakti or the pure devotion for Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. First Vishnupathi Punya kaalam 2011 date is February 13. The second Vishnupati Punyakalam date is May 15. From 1.30 am to 10.30 am on May 15, 2011, is known as Vishnupathi Punyakaalam. Vishnupathi is a great time to spend in Lord Vishnu chantings, stories and pujas Vishnupati punya kaal comes once in every three months.

Vishnupathi Punya kalam is celebrated with utmost devotion in Vishnu temples throughout the world. In 2011, the first Vishnupathi Punya kaalam is on February 13, second falls in May 2011, third will be in August 2011, and the last one will be in November 2011. Third and fourth Vishnupathi in 2011 dates are – August 17 & November 17 respectively.
Time of Vishnupati Punyakaalam
On the day of Vishnupati, nine hour period from 1.30 in the late night to 10.30 in the morning is referred as Vishnupathi Punya kaalam. The nine hour period is the most auspicious in terms of pujas and other sadhanas to please Lord Vishnu and to get blessings of Vishnu.
In each year, four Vishnupathi Punya Kaalams are celebrated. But the time period of theVishnupati is different from others in every year. Totally we have 60 years, once you miss to celebrate the Vishnupati then you have to wait for coming 60 years to celebrate Vishnupathi on the particular day.
Celebrations, rituals and pujas on Vishnupathi day
Vishnu pati punya kaalam is one of the most important celebrations for Vaishnavites and the Vaishnava temples. On Vishnupathi day, in many temples Kumbhabhishekam or Mahakumbhabishekam or Sahasra Kumbhabishekam are performed.
Vishnusahasranama sankeerthana (reciting Vishnu Sahasranamam), Bhagavatha Parayanam, reciting Vishnu Purana and Purusha Suktha are the main pujas performed on Vishnu Pati day.
