Tarani Prasad Misro, renowned sand sculpture from Andhra Pradesh, has made Vesakha sand sculpture, the sand image of Lord Buddha. Also known as Buddha Jayanti, Vesakha or Vaisakha is the biggest festival in Buddhism. It is an annual festival celebrated on Purnima or Full Moon in Vaishakh Month (May). In 2011, Vesakha or Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti date is 17 May.

Lord Buddha is also considered as one of the Dashavatara, ten Supreme incarnations of Lord Vishnu by some Hindus.
