Vaishakha masa or Vaishakh month is the second month in traditional Hindu Kannada calendar followed in Karnataka. In 2017, Vaishakha masa starts on April 27 and ends on May 25.
The similar calendar is followed in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Gujarat. Vaisakhamasa is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is also known as Madhava Masam in Vaishnava calendar.
Vaishakha Snana is the main ritual observed during the month of Vaisakh. Special Vaisakha masa pujas are performed in many famous temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna, Lord Narasimha, etc.) in Karnataka.
Shukla Paksha in Kannada Vaisakha masa 2017 starts on April 27 and ends on May 10.
Krishna Paksha in Kannada Vaisakha masa 2017 starts on May 11 and ends on May 25.
Akshaya Tritiya, Narasimha Jayanthi (Narsimha Chaturdashi), and Buddha Purnima (Maha Vaishakhi) are the major festivals in Vaisakha maasa. Gauri Puja and Lakshmi Puja are performed on Aksha Thadiya in many regions of Karnataka.
On Akshaya Trutiya day, Chandana is offered to Sri Krishna idol of Udupi Sri Krishna Temple.
