Tirupati Laddu in bio-degradable bags, TTD’s eco-friendly initiative on World Environment Day

Tirupati Laddu is now in eco-friendly bags. On the occasion of World Environment Day, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the board that runs Tirupati Venkateswara temple, has announced that they will use bio-degradable bags to pack Tirupati Laddu, the most famous spiritual food item. As an initiative to plastic-free zone of Tirumala Tirupati, the TTD has taken the decision to pick an Ahmedabad-based firm to supply bio-degradable bags that will now carry the famous Tirupatu Laddu prasadam.

Each biodegradable is of 30-micron thickness, and remains intact even after coming in contact with ghee or oil, which the laddus contain. It decomposes within 180 days of coming in contact with soil. Each bag costs between Rs 4 and Rs 5.
