The 10-day annual festival of Thiruvalla Sri Vallabha Temple will be concluded on March 12, 2010, Friday, with the grand Arat ceremony. A large number of devotees will participate in the concluding event of Thiruvalla temple festival.
The 10-day annual festival at the Sree Vallabha Temple in Thiruvalla came to a close with the Arat ceremony on Friday. The Arat procession set off from the temple to the Arat kadavu at Thukalasserry, accompanied by four caparisoned elephants, panchavadyam, pancharimelom and other traditional temple percussion, in the afternoon. Hundreds of devotees participated in the procession.
Devotees accorded a rousing reception to the procession at the Thukalasserry Mahadevar Temple. The ritualistic holy dip was held at the Arat kadavu in river Manimala at Thukalasserry in an atmosphere charged with devotion. The temple chief priest (Tantri), Parameswaran Vasudevan Bhattathiripad of Memana Illom, assisted by the head priests (Melsanthi), Unnikrishnan Namboodiri and Govindan Namboodiri, performed the Arat-puja and other rituals.
Devotees later partook of the sumptuous feat, Arat sadya. The tantri brought down the flag on the golden temple mast. A saxophone concert by Kadri Gopalnath followed by classical music concert by Chennai Mambalom Sisters was held in the evening.
