The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the body that manages activities and funds at the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, is constructing a grand Balaji temple in Delhi.
“Construction of the Venkateswara temple in Delhi has began. The temple is being built at Gole Market in the capital and it will be completed by December, 2010 latest. A ‘dhyana mandiram’ is also being built,” TTD Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao told PTI here.
The TTD will also be organising a ‘Kalyanotsavam’ (wedding ceremony of the Lord) at the famous Sri Venkateswara College in New Delhi on March 21, and Raya Vellore in Tamil Nadu later in the month, he said.
The TTD has received requests for organising the ‘Kalyanotsavam’ from many states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and at Mumbai in Maharashtra. The objective of organising the event in various towns and cities is propagation of spiritual values among the people.
“The ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ is not independent. It is part of our efforts for propagation of Hindu philosophy and values,” Rao said.
The ‘Kalyanotsavam’, recently organised by the TTD at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu drew huge crowds.The TTD supervises and oversees the activities, operations and finances of Tirupati and has several temples and sub-shrines under its control. The Executive Officer said the TTD is also laying emphasis on Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) that was set up for propagation of spiritual values among other things.
In addition to serials on Hindu religious texts, the channel shows live various ‘pujas’ (prayers) conducted at the Tirupati temple, which are a huge hit with the devotees in Andhra Pradesh and other southern states.
Expressing happiness over the channel winning 11 awards in various disciplines from the Andhra Pradesh government recently, Rao said the present Rs 50 crore budget of the channel can be increased further, provided value for money and commitment of the people is assured.

Previously, TTD board has decided to construct Lord Venkateswara temples in Chennai and Kurukshetra.

Vasanthotsavam 2010 in Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple during Chaitra Masam

Vasanthotsavam is an annual seva celebrated in Tirumala Tirupati Balaji temple during Chaitra masam or Chaitra month (March – April). It is celebrated on three days – Chaitra Shukla Trayodasi, Chaitra Shukla Chaturdasi and Chaitra Pournami. In 2010, Vasantothsavam is celebrated on March 28th, 29th, and 30th. During Vasantotsavam, Lord Malayappa swamy or the Utsava murthy of the temple with his divine consorts are offered special pujas.

Vasantotsavam, one of the popular arjita sevas to Lord Tirupati Venkateshwara, begins with Ankurarpanam on Uttarabhadra nakshatram in Tamil Panguni month. Punyavachanam, Vasthu Shanti, and Samprokshanam are performed on the day before Vasantothsavam puja. These rituals are not open to public. Snapana Thirmanjanam or a special abhishekam is performed to Lord Malayappa swamy.

Ugadi 2010 in Tirumala Tirupati – Kannada and Telugu New Year in Tirupati Venkateshwara temple

Ugadi, Telugu New Year and Kannada New Year, is celebrated with utmost fervor at Tirumala Tirupati Sri Venkateshwara swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh. Ugadi 2010 date is March 16. Special pujas, special sevas, vahana sevas, etc are performed to Srivaru. Pushparchana, and Pushpabhishekam are the most attractive and eye-catching events during Ugadhi festival. Temple is decorated with specially imported aromatic flowers and garlands. Ugadi Pachadi is distributed in temple premises during Ugadhi festival.

‘Ekantha Thirumanjanam’ is performed to Srivari Utsava Vigraham (processional deities) Lord Malayappa swamy and his consorts inside the temple of Lord of seven hills. After that, deities are taken out for procession in the golden ‘Sarvabhoopala vahanam’ around the ‘Vimana prakaram’ encircling the Srivari Garbha gudi (sanctum sanctorum). ‘Panchanga Sravanam’ is the major event held at the ‘Bangaru Vakili’ after conducting all the above religious activities. Panchanga Sravanam is held in front of the main deity of Lord Sri Venkateshwara swamy.

Ugadhi celebrations attract few lakh of devotees as Ugadi is celebrated as Gudi Padwa (Marathi New Year) in Maharashtra and Nav Varsh (North Indian Hindu New Year) in North Indian states.

Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Mandir will be set up at Kurukshetra in Haryana. Tirumala temple board wants to construct the true replica of Lord Venkateshwara temple of Tirupati in Kurukshetra.

The Balaji temple of Tirupati, the famous Hindu shrine, will be set up in Haryana’s historic town of Kurukshetra, the temple management told Haryana Chief Minister Bhupiunder Singh Hooda at a meeting in New Delhi Thursday. The temple would be a true replica of Lord Balaji, Tirupati, the temple management told Hooda. It will be completed within three years.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up the Balaji temple at Kurukshetra – the historical town known for the mythological battle of the Mahabharata. Kurukshetra town is about 110 km from Chandigarh and 150 km from New Delhi.

Hooda met TTD top management, including its chairman Adikeshavulu Naidu, executive officer I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and TTD advisor A. Sankara Reddy. Hooda has agreed to provide five acres of land free of cost to TTD for setting up the Balaji temple in Kurukshetra. The temple will also replicate the architectural and ornamental values of the Tirupati temple, Naidu said.

The TTD intends to depict 10 avatars’ of Lord Vishnu, with Lord Balaji in the sanctum sanctorum. These will be installed in the premises of the temple. This will highlight the historic prominence of Kurukshetra and Lord Krishna’s role in enlightening Arjuna and the Hindu Dharma in the “Geeta Updesham”.

“Considering the fact that a large number of devotees from this region visit the Tirupati temple regularly, setting up the Tirupati temple in Kurukshetra will fulfil the aspirations of devotees of Lord Balaji,” Hooda said.

Phalguna Pournami Teppotsavam in Tirumala Tirupati Swami Pushkarini

Teppotsavam, annual float festival, is celebrated for five days during Phalguna month at Tirumala Tirupati Swami Pushkarini Theertham. The annual Teppotsavam begins on Phalguna Dashami and ends on Phalguna Pournami, the Full Moon day in Falguna month. In 2010, Teppotsavam festival will start on February 24th and end on February 28th, 2010. During the five-day float festival at Swami Pushkarini teertham, Lord Sri Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lakshmana are worshipped on first day and on second day Lord Sri Krishna and Rukmini Devi are offered worship.

Starting from Falguna Trayodashi, Lord Malayappa Swamy along with Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi are worshipped till the concluding day Phalgun Purnima. The idols of the above deities are adorned with grand jewellery and garlands in a beautifully decorated boat and taken out for a procession in Swami Pushkarini Theertham. This float festival attracts millions of devotees.
