Shakambari Homam at Saharanpur Shakambari Devi Temple

Shakambari homam, a sacrifice or yagna dedicated to Goddess Shakambari Devi, will be held at Saharanpur Shakambari Temple in Uttar Pradesh in February 2010 during Haridwar Maha Kumbha Mela. Grains and vegetable merchants pray Goddess Shakambari as their favorite Goddess. In some communities, farmers also consider Shakambari as their Ishta Devata. It is believed that those who observe Shakambari Homam will be blessed with good fortune in business and agriculture.

During Hardiwar Maha Kumbha Mela, it is very auspicious to perform Shakumbari Homan after having kumbh mela snan. Devotees from all around India visit Shakumbhari Shakti Peeth in Saharanpur and pay their worship to the Goddess. This is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism.
