Vijaya Ekadasi is an auspicous day celebrated during the Krishna Paksha of the Hindu month of Phalguna or Falgun month (February – March). Vijaya Ekadasi 2010 date is February 9, 2010. It coincides with Magha Krishna Ekadashi day as per Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi and Kannada calendars. According to the Skanda Purana, one who observes Vijaya Ekadasi attains success with nullifying the sins. The Purana also tells that Lord Sri Ram observed Vijaya Ekadashi and demolished Ravana without any obstacles.
Vijaya Ekadashi – Vrat Katha or legend or story, Importance and spiritual significance:
The legend or story of Vijaya Ekadasi was narrated to Narada by his father Lord Brahma. Lord Sri ram went to cross the sea with his army (Vanarasena), but was unable to find the means to cross the sea. Informed by Lakshmana, Lord Ram went to a Sage and got the importance to observe Vijaya Ekadashi. Lord Ram was well informed by the Sage about the observance of Vijaya Ekadashi. Lord Rama attained victory after performing. Vijaya Ekadasi rituals with utmost fervor.
There is no specific rules, rituals or customs to observe on Vijaya Ekadasi. They are same as normal Ekadashi, which include fasting. Devotees break their fasting on Dwadashi day after performing Vishnu Puja.
