Padma Ekadashi or Parsva Padma Ekadasi is observed on Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Ekadashi. In 2009, the date of Padma Parivatana Ekadashi is August 31. Padma Ekadasi is known with various names – Parivatini Ekadashi, Parsava Parivatini Ekadasi, Vishnu Parivartini Ekadashi, Jal Jilani Ekadasi, Vamana Ekadashi, Jayanti Ekadasi.
Bhadrapad Padma Ekadashi is one of the Ekadashi vratas that falls during Chaturmas period. Padma Parivartini Ekadashi is also called as Vamana Ekadashi because on this Ekadasi Lord Vamana sent King Mahabali to Pathala loka.
Vamana Jayanthi is observed on the next day to Padma Parivathini Ekadashi. The legend of Padma Parsva Parivarthana Ekadashi is mentioned in Brahma Vivarta Purana as the conversation between Lord Sri Krishna and Dharmaraja.

Gajalakshmi vrat is an observance dedicated to Goddess Gajalaxmi, one of the eight aspects of Goddess Lakshmi. Gajalakshmi is considered as prosperity and strength. Gajalaxmi vrat is observed on Shukla Paksha Dashami in Bhadrapad month. In 2009, the date of Gajalakshmi vrata is August 30. Gajalakshmi is worshipped for the wealth of animals – cattle – and for prosperity.
On Gajalakshmi vrat day, Goddess Gajalaxmi is worshipped with Shodasha upachars (16 steps of Puja procedure) and offered special recipes. Devotees observe fast till the lakshmi puja ends. After Gajalakshmi puja, devotees offer dakshina in terms of money or offerings to a Brahmin.
Dasavatar Vrat or Dashavatara Puja is an observance dedicated to all the Dasavataras, ten Supreme incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Dashavatar Vratha is observed on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapad month. In 2009, the date of Dasavatara Vratham is August 30.
On Dashavathar Puja day, all the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu are worshipped. Bhadrapad Dashami is very fruitful for the worship of Lord Vishnu and his ten incarnations because during the month two avatars or incarnations of Lord Vishnu – Varaha and Vamana – are appeared. The next day of Dashavtar Vrata is observed as Padma Parivarthana Ekadashi or Vishnu Parivarthana Ekadasi.
During Dashavthar Pooja, ten avatars – Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parasurama, Sri Rama, Balarama, Sri Krishna, Kalki avatars – are worshipped. In Bhadrapad month, Varaha Jayanthi and Vamana Jayanti are celebrated.
Nanda Navami is observed on ninth day during Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapad month. In 2009, the date of Nanda Navami Durga Puja is August 29. Nanda Navami vrat is solely dedicated to worship Goddess Durga. Though, Nanda Navmi puja is a less known festival it has a great significance in terms of benefits and glory.
Sadhus or rishis worship Goddess Durga on Nand Navmi to get best results from their pujas and sadhnas. It is believed that yagnas and homas observed on Nanda Navami or Bhadrapad Shukla Navami are very fruitful. In some places, On Nanda Navami day, fairs and Jatras are organized.
Bhadrapad Shukla Navami is also observed as Adukh Navmi or Avidhva Navami.
Avidh Navami Puja, also called as Avidh-va-Navami or Adukh Navami or Aveha Navmi, is observed on the ninth day during the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapad month. In 2009, the date of Avidh Navami or Adukh Navami is August 29. On Avidha Navami day, married women worship Goddess Gauri and observe Gauri Vrat. They keep fasting during Gauri Puja and the fast is broken after performing the puja or in the evening.
On Avidha Navami or Adukh Navami day, men who have lost their wives offer dry food and other offerings to a Brahmin and feed a married woman. In Maharashtra, on Bhadrapad Navami day, Jyeshta Gauri Visarjan is performed.
Bhadrapad Navami is also observed as Nanda Navami in some places of India.
