Srisailam Sahasra Lingeshwara Temple Shikharam Collapsed

Srisailam Sahasra Lingeshwara Swamy Temple shikharam was collapsed today, 8 December 2011. Sahasralingeshwara temple is one of the temples located the premises of Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Kshetram and Astadasha Shakti Peetham Bramarambika Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

Temple pujaris (archaka swamulu) have decided to perform special pujas as it indicates a bad omen. The temple committee will replace the collapsed shikharam with Panchaloha shikara.

It is believed Lord Sri Rama was installed and consecrated the Sahasralingeshwara swamy temple’s main idol in Treta Yuga.

In 2010, Srikalahasti Temple’s Rajagopuram was collapsed. It was built by Sri Krishnadevaraya in 16th Century.
