Sita Jayanti (Sita Ashtami, Janki Ashtami, Janki Janam) is the birth anniversary of Goddess Sita Mata. In 2024, Sita Ashtami date is March 4.

Sita Ashtami falls on Krishna Paksha Ashtami in Falgun Month. It coincides with Krishna Paksha Ashtami in Magha Month as per Amavasyant calendars followed in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Gujarat.

Sita Mata is considered as one of the Maha Pativratas in Hindu Mythology (Hindu religious history). Goddess Sita is the divine consort of Lord Sri Rama.

According to Hindu religious history, Seeta Devi was found in the Earth on this day. Sri Seeta Devi is also called as Janaki Mata as she is the daughter of King Janaka (King Janaka found her in the earth).

Rituals and Customs of Sita Devi Jayanti

On the day of Sita Devi Jayanti, devotees worship Sri Sita Devi along with Lord Rama. They also recite Ramayana during Janaki Mata Jayanthi.

Sita Jayanti is also observed on Sita Navami or Janki Navmi. This festival is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Navami in Vaishakh month.

In 2023, Sita Ashtami date is February 14.

In 2022, Sita Ashtami date is February 24.

In 2021, Sita Ashtami date is March 6.

In 2020, Sita Ashtami date is February 16.

In 2019, Sita Ashtami date was February 26.

In 2014, Sita Ashtami date was February 23.

In 2013, Sita Ashtami date was March 5.
