Shri Panchami or Vasant Panchami, also known as Saraswati Panchami is celebrated in a grand manner at Wargal Vidya Saraswati Temple near Gajwel, Telangana. In 2021, Shri Panchami or Shree Panchami date is February 16.
On this day Goddess Saraswati Devi, the Goddess of education and learning, is worshipped with utmost devotion. Another major Saraswati temple located in Andhra Pradesh is Basar Gnana Saraswati Temple in Adilabad district.
Goddess Saraswati is decked in yellow clothes, worshipped with Shodashopachara puja (16 steps of puja), and offered special naivedyam on Shree Panchami. Women and students perform puja with keeping books in front of the idol.
In Wargal Vidya Saraswati Temple, children between 2 to 4 years get their education initialized. The celebration of initiating education for children is known as ‘Samoohika Aksharabhyasam. On Magh Shudda Trayodashi day, Wargal Saraswati Temple Varshika Utsavams will be started.
Saraswati Puja, Vidhyarambham or Aksharabhyasam, Pithru Tharpanam, and Kama deva Puja are some major rituals during Vasant Panchami. Vasanta Panchami Snan is another auspicious ritual during Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela.
