Shravan Panchami: Nag Panchami Nagara Panchami and Mauna Panchami

Shravan Panchami, the fifth day in Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha are considered highly auspicious days. Naga Panchami or Nagula Panchami or Nagara Panchami is observed on Shukla Paksha of Shravan month in North India, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Naga Panchami 2016 date is August 7.

It is also known as Garuda Panchami vrat. In Gujarat, Nag Pancham is observed on Panchami of Vad Paksh (Krishna Paksha). Gujarati Naga Panchami 2014 date is August 15.

Shravan Shukla Panchami is also observed as Mauna Panchami in North India. Mauna Panchami is a significance festive day in Baba Baidyanath Dham where a month-long ‘Shravani Mela’ is held.

On Shravan Shukla Paksha Panchami day, Rig Shukla Yajur Shravani Upakarma is observed by Shukla Yajurvedi sect of Brahmins in certain places. It is also observed as Kalki Jayanti.
