Who is Lord Saneeshwara?

As per the Hindu astrology, Navagrahas (Nine Planet Gods in Hindu astrology) are the nine primary celestial gods. Shani is also considered as the Lord of Saturday. The word Shani itself indicates the seventh day of a week. Shani is a celestial god and son of Sun and his wife Chhaya . Shani is also known as Chhayaputra (son of the Goddess of Shadow). Since he is son of the Shadow Goddess, he is described as having a dark complexion with a handsome face.

What is the Significance of Lord Shani (Saturn) in Hindu Astrology?

Sani is considered as the Deity of Karmas (deeds). According to the Hindu astrology, one can lead the life based on native karmas done by the particular person. A persons fortune depends on his birth chart. The birth chart mainly focuses on the location of Sani. Ones astro predictions can be told mainly on the basis of Shanis spot in the birth chart.

Why Devotees Need To Please Lord Shani?

As per the Shastras, it is believed that worshipping shani may minimise the impact or effect of shani dosham (defects in ones birth chart or the bad deeds done by the native during the previous birth) on their life.

What is the Procedure of Shani Graha Shanti Pooja? How Shani Puja is performed?

During Shani Shanti Pooja (Observance to calm Shani), devotees perform ‘Thailabhishekam (A ritual using til oil) to Shanis idol and offer a piece of black cloth, black til, fruits and coconuts. It is observed very strictly as they believe if they wont perform with devotion Shani may curse them badly.

Those natives who are suffering due to the adverse effect of Sani, or those natives who are undergoing the period of Elenati Sani (Sade-Sani), Ardhastama Sani, Ashtama Sani or its antar dasa are generally advised to perform necessary remedial measures to please the Lord Sani to beget his blessings. It is a very well known fact that it is difficult to please Lord Shani Bhagavan. That is the reason why, natives awaits for the day to perform remedial measures so as to nullify the negative effects of Lord Shani Bhagavan.

On the day of Sani Trayodasi, natives have to perform tailabhishekam. Some black grams, 100 grams of ginger oil packet, one kilo coal, a small black ribbon, 8 iron nails, some Navadanyams that is to be tied in a black cloth and donate the same to the temple priest or drop the same in a running water will definitely please Lord Shani Bhagavan.

Offer food items to a crow and feed the needy persons. Do not purchase oil, leather, umbrella, Navadanyams etc., on this Saturday. Distribute rice with salt meals to poor people. Distribute black clothes have to be donated to the poor people on Saturday. It is advised to recite at least 108 times the following mantra to please Lord Shani Bhagavan.
