Today, 26 June 2013 is Sankashti Chaturthi. Sankashtahara Chaturthi is also known as Monthly Ganesha Chaturthi. Upavaas from Sunrise to Moonrise on the day and Ganesha Pujan after sighting of Moonrise (Chandrodayam) are the main rituals followed on Sankashti Chaturthi day.
Sankashti Chaturthi or Sankashtahara Chaturthi or Ganesha Sankat Chauth is observed on the Chaturthi or Chavithi, the fourth day of Krishna Paksha during every Hindu month.
