The Pratyangira Devi temple is located near Puducherry between the Pondicherry and Chennai main road. It is about three kilometers from Moratandi and is not much crowded on most days of the week. The road leading to the temple is not fully developed but you can manage the travel in a vehicle.

The most striking feature of this temple is the 72 feet idol of Goddess Pratyangira Devi which you can see even before you reach the temple. This is the idol which is outside the temple and the one inside the temple is a small one which is about 4 feet and it is slightly underground.

There are numerous small shops surrounding the temple selling pictures of Pratyangira Devi, idols, devotional casettes and cd’s and other religious items. This temple is also famous for performing the Pratyangira Devi Homam and many people visit the temple for this purpose.

Pratyangira Homam is usually held every month in the Pralaya Vinayaka Padhala Pratyangira Parameshwari Ashram and Trust in the Moratandi village on the Ashtami day preceding Amavasya under the guidance of Nadathur Janardhana Swami.

Ashtami is the ideal day to worship Pratyangira Devi and puja is performed till 4 am on this day. Other than this day, tuesdays, new moon days and fridays are also important for the worship of Pratyangira Devi. The temple remains open from 7 am to 1 pm and from 3.30 pm to 9 pm.
