Panguni Month 2011 begins in Tamil Nadu

Panguni Month or Panguni Masam is the last month in Tamil Calendar. It marks the end of Tamil Year. In 2011, Panguni Month 2011 begins on 15 March 2011 (today) and ends on April 13. Panguni Uthiram is the major festival celebrated in this month.

Pankuni month coincides with Phalgun month in other calendars followed in North India, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. It coincides with Meenam month in Malayalam calendar.

Panguni Uthiram marks the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Celestial Wedding of Andal Devi is also celebrated in Srivilliputhur in Tamil Nadu. Srirangam, Madurai, Palani, Srivilliputhur, etc. are the most famous temple destinations for devotees during Panguni Month.
