Narsimha Jayanti Today, 16 May 2011 – Narsingh Chaturdasi

Narasimha Jayanti or Narasimha Chaturdashi is the appearance day of Lord Narasimha or Narsingh Deva. In 2011, it is observed on 16 May, Monday (today). Narasimha Swamy is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The main objective of the incarnation was to kill the demon Hiranyakashapu and restore peace in the world.

Devotees observe fasting on Narasimha Jayanti and donate various things to the poor and the Brahmins. Chanting Narasimha Ashtakam, Narasimha Karavalambam or Narasimha Karavalamba stotram is highly meritorious.

Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated with utmost gusto and fervor in Yadagirigutta Narasimha Swamy Temple, Simhachalam Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Bidar Jharani Narasimha Swamy Temple, Ahobilam Narasimha Swamy Temple, and all other Narsingh temples, and ISKCON temples all over the world.
