December 13, 2013, Today is Mokshada Ekadashi Vrat. It is also celebrated as Gita Jayanti, the birthday of Bhagvad Gita.

Mokshada Ekadashi, also popular as Mauna Ekadashi, falls on Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of Margashirsha Month as per Hindu calendar. It begins on 12 December at 7.43 AM and ends on 13 December at 8.21 AM.

Mokshada Ekadashi Vrata Paarana Time on 14 December 2013 is – from 6.37 AM to 9.29 AM.

Mokshada Ekadasi vrat katha or the legend of this Ekadashi is mentioned in the Brahmanda Purana. It is believed that observing Moksada Ekadasi vrata would free dead ancestors from their sins and provides them Moksha or salvation. Read the story of Mokshada Ekadashi here..

On this day, Mauna Vrata is observed hence it is also called as Mauna Ekadashi. Bhagvad Gita, Mukundashtakam, Vishnu Sahasranamam are recited during the Ekadashi day.
