6 August 2015 is Kalashtami Pujan. Kalashtami Vrat falls on Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of every Hindu month.

Kalashtami is an auspicious day for the devotees of Lord Kalabhairava (a manifestation of Lord Shiva) who observe fasting on this day.

Kalashtami of 6 August 2015 falls in Nija Ashada Month as per Amavasyant calendars and in Shravan Month as per Purnimant (North Indian Hindi) calendars.

It falls in Aadi Masam of Tamil calendar, Karkidaka Masam in Malayalam calendar and Shraban Month in Bengali Panjika.

Kalashtami Vrat is mostly observed in Maharashtra, Deccan Karnataka, Marathi influenced areas of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and some parts of North India.

Generally, Kalashtami is observed on the day when Ashtami prevails in the night.
