Masi Magam, also spelt as Masi Makam or Maasi Maham, is a Tamil festival celebrated in Masi month on Magham nakshatra. In 2011, Masi Magam date is February 18, Friday (Indian Standard Time IST). This festival is celebrated with lot of gusto at Kumbakonam Natarajar temple, Palani Murugan temple, Madurai Meenakshi Temple, Tiruchendur Subramanya swamy temple, Mamallapuram Thirukkadalmallai temple, and many other temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, and Lord Murugan.
In 2011, Magam nakshatra starts after 5.39 am on 18 February and ends at 2.45 am on 19 February. Purnima begins after 5.30 pm on 17 February and ends at 2.03 pm on 18 February.
Masi Magam is celebrated as Magha Purnima in other parts of India in 2011. Garuda Seva is an auspicious event held in Tirumala Tirupati Venkateswara temple on Magha Purnima.
Magha Purnima marks the end of Magh Snan as well as Magh Month as per North Indian Hindi calendar.
