Mahur Datta Mandir | Mahurgud Dattatreya Temple

Mahur Datta Mandir (Mahurgud Dattatreya Temple) is one of the famous Temples of Lord Dattatreya in Maharashtra. Mahur is said to be birthplace of Guru Dattatreya Bhagawan. Dattatreya was born to Goddess Anusaya. There is an ancient temple of Dattatreya.

Datta Poornima (Dattatreya Jayanti) is the biggest festival celebrated at this temple. Thousands of people visit Mahur Datta Mandir on this day.

Mahur is one of the two Shakti Peetha Temples where Lord Dattatreya has also got huge significance. Another Shakti Peetha Temple is – Pithapuram in Andhra Pradesh. Ekavirika Devi (Renuka Mata) is the presiding deity of Mahur and Goddess Puruhutika is the deity of Pithapuram.

Apart from Datta Mandir, Mahur is famous for Matapur Niwasini Shri Jagdamba Devi Temple or Renuka Devi Temple, Anusaya Temple, Devdeveshwar Temple, Parshuram Temple, Sarvatirtha, Matru-Tirtha, Bhanutirth, Mahakali Temple (In the fort), etc..
