Magha Pournami at Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple in Karnataka

Magha Pournami, the Full Moon day in Magha masam, is celebrated with utmost gaiety in Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple near Mangalore in Karnataka. Magha Pournami is observed as the commemoration of Nandini River’s descending from the heaven. Magha Pournami 2013 date is February 25.

During every Pournami, special pujas are performed in Kateel Parameshwari Temple which is also known Sri Kshetram. Magh Purnima marks the jubilation of Nandini Nadi Utsavam. On this festive day, Goddess Durga Parameshwari is offered special naivedya.

Kateel Durga Parameshwari temple is located at the bank of River Nandini. The temple has its existence since the Puranic times. The legend of the temple is associated with Jabali Maharshi who lived during Vaivasvatha Manvanthara.

Kateel or Kateelu is a temple town in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, India. It is about 26 kilometers away from Mangalore. Keteel is the abode of Sri Durga Parameshwari Devi. Thousands of devotees visit the temple daily and offer their pujas to Goddess Durga Parameshwari Devi.
