Lathmar Holi is a unique festival celebrated few days before Holi festival. In Barsana near Mathura, Lathmar Holi attracts thousands of devotees as it is a fight between gopis (friends of Radha Rani) and gops (friends of Lord Krishna).
Women (gopis) of Barsana town chase down the gops (men) from Nandgaon beat up with sticks in friendly manner. It represents such an incident from Mahabharata.
In 2017, Barsana Lathmar Holi date is March 6. On the following day, Lathmar Holi is played in Nandgaon.
