Lalbaug Chi Mata Navratri Utsav is one of the famous Navratri Durga Puja Pandals in Mumbai. Ganesh Galli’s Lalbaug Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal organizes this Navratri utsav in a grand manner. In 2016, Navratri starts on October 1 and ends on October 11 Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami). Durga Visarjan date is October 11.
It is to note that Ganesh Galli Ganpati mandal is one of the three most popular Ganeshotsav pandals in Mumbai.
Many devotees have got the reason to believe this as she has fulfilled wishes of many who asked for the help with pure mind and honesty. All nine days people around Mumbai come to pray at her feet and ask for happiness in their life. People give Sarees as taken of fulfillment once the wishes come true. All saris as well as ornaments of gold & silver as dropped on goddess and hence people feel more nostalgic and pure to wish for more.
Lot of traditional and cultural programs are organized by mandal in this nine days like bhajan, Kirtan, traditional gondhal, Haldi kumkum for females, Homhavan. Fun & game activities for children are also organized during this festival. Every day at 8.30 PM, Bhavani Mata aarti is performed which is attended by many devotees.
On Dusshera day all coconuts & sarees which are offered at feet of Mata are auctioned. On next day of dusshera the Visarjan till Girgaon Choupatty procession of Goddess Lalbaug Chi Mata begins with lot of triumph and excitement. Four days later on Kojagiri Pournima huge feast is arranged as the Prasad of Goddess which also gets lot of attention from local people who attend it in hordes.
