Laksharchana at Sabarimala in Midhunam Month

Laksharchana is held at Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple on 2nd day of Midhunam Month every year. In 2014, Laksharchana date was 16 June, Monday.

Brahmakalasa pooja, marking the beginning of Laksharchana, is conducted under the leadership of the thantri at the mandapam of the temple at 6 am, followed by the recital of mantras by a group of scholars.

The ritual concludes after kalasabhishekam on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja. Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam are the other rituals conducted at the temple. Both the rituals are conducted under the leadership of the thantri in the presence of melsanthi during Uchcha pooja.

Udayasthamana pooja, pushpabhishekam and padi pooja are the other rituals offered to the Lord. The two-day “Ashtamangala devaprasanam” is held at Lord Ayyappa Temple from fourth day of Midhunam Month (18 June 2014).
