Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi is the most popular Ganesh Mandal in Hyderabad and throughout Andhra Pradesh. It is also one of the most crowd pulling Ganapathi idol in India for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
For 2013 Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations, Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi is erecting a Ganesh Pandal which is known as ‘Sri Gonaga Chaturmukha Maha Ganapathi’. As this year, this Ganesh Samithi is celebrating its 59th year of utsavams, they are erecting a 59-feet Ganpati idol along with one sub pandal each on right and left side.
The main Shilpi (Sculptor) for this mammoth Ganesha is Mr. Rajendran who has been associated with Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi since two decades. According to Rajendran, this is the first time that ‘Chaturmukha Ganapathi’ (Four-headed Ganesha) is being installed in Khairatabad.
The workers from Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bihar and Maharashtra will be taking part in making of this Ganesha. The full-fledged working of idol preparation will begin from July 1st, 2013.
For the making of Khairatabad Vinayaka 2013, 20 tons of iron, quintals of wood, 50 kgs of Plaster of Paris, 500 clay bags, 100 bundles of coconut coir and 2000 metres of jute bags.
