Kapila Theertham Mahashivaratri Festival celebrations… In 2015, Mahashivaratri date is February 17.

The famous Shiva Shrine under the umbrella of ancient temples of TTD, Sri Kapileswara Swamy temple is all set ready for the biggest annual event in its series of annual festivals, Maha Siva Rathri which will be observed on Tuesday with religious pomp and diety.

As over one lakh pilgrims are expected to visit this famous Shiva temple on Tuesday, TTD has made elaborate arrangements of Security and Annaprasadam distribution for the big day by deploying special team of vigilance sleuths for crowd management and also over 100 Srivari Seva Volunteers to man queue lines, distribute annaprasadam etc for the multitude of visiting pilgrims.

Meanwhile the day on February 17, commences with Suprabhatam at 2.30am followed by Mahanyasapurvaka Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam, upto 4.30am and later the deities will be specially decorated for the festive occasion. The devotees will be allowed for Sarva Darshanam from 5.30am to 11am.

During the day there will be Rathotsavam between 7am to 9am on Tuesday. After Rathotsavam which is otherwise called Bhogitheru, Snapana Tirumanjanam follows. Again the devotees will be allowed for darshan from 11.30am to 2pm. This will be followed by special abhishekam, Alankaram, Sahasranamarchana, Deeparadhana.

The Devotees will be allowed for Sarva Darshan from 5pm to 12 midnight. Meanwhile the Lord Shiva will take celestial ride on Adhikara Nandi Vahanam-the most famous vehicle of the ten day brahmotsavams, which will be from 6pm to 10pm. This is also known as “Gramotsavam”.
On the zero hours of February 18, Lingodbhavakala Abhishekam will be performed from till 1am , followed by second, third and fourth abhishekams which is followed by Alankaram, Archana, Naivedyam, Deeparadhana and Ekantaseva.
