Kamika Ekadasi Vratha katha is mentioned in the Brahma vaivarta Purana as a conversation between Lord Krishna and King Yudhistira. The importance of Kamika Ekadashi was told by Lord Brahma to Narada Muni.

Observing Punya snana in holy rivers like Ganga, Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery, Yamuna, etc., gives the performer pleasant life and salvation.

Bilva Vratham is also observed in some places. Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati are worshipped on this day with bilva patra or bel leaves.
