SV Temple Pittsburgh

SV Temple Pittsburgh (Sri Venkateswara Temple located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in USA , which is also known as American Tirupati temple, is one of the famous Hindu temples in United States of America. This temple was established in November 1976 and the daily worship is being performed continuously since then.

Kumbhabishekam, Sahasra kalashabhishekam, Jirnodharanam, Ashtalakshmi Pooja and Sudarsana Homam, Srinivasa and Padmavati Mahakalyanotsavam, Maha Satyanarayana Pooja, Year long Tulasidala Archana, Koti Tulasidala Archana, Ashtakshari Mahamantra Yagna Sri MahaVishnu Viswashanti Yagna and Maha Yagna, Sahasra Rajata Kalashabhisekham, etc. were the most popular rituals celebrated in SV Temple Pittsburgh till date apart from the annual temple festivals.

History of SV Temple

As per the official website of SV Temple, Pittsburgh, Sri Venkateshwara Temple Organization was established on 7 August 1975. Assistance from Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) for construction of the temple was requested on 11 September 1975 and granted on the same day. On 30 June 1976 ground breaking was performed and was followed by pratisthapana on 17 November 1976. Daily worship is being performed continuously ever since.

S. V. Temple was constructed at a cost of several millions of dollars with donations raised from devotees in U.S.A and several countries. Most donors were first generation Indian immigrants seeking to maintain ties with their mother culture.

Architectural Structure of SV Temple
Sthapathy Ganapathi of Engineering Cell in Endowments Department of Andhra Pradesh, India, designed and planned the architectural sttructure of SV Temple in August 1973. He has designed a unique architecure for Sri Venkateshwara temple, Lakshmi Temple, and Andal temple.

The temple is constructed as per the Agama Sastras, the standard Hindu temple construction manual. SV Temple follows the Pancharatra Agama Sastra. The rituals and celebrations are observed as per the Pancharatra Agamam.
