Goswami Tulsidas Punyatithi

Goswami Tulsidas Punyatithi (Sant Tulsidas Punyatithi) is the death anniversary of Tulsidas, the Hindu poet-saint who was renowned for his devotion for Lord Rama. In 2013, Tulsidas Punyatithi date is July 25.

According to many scholars, Sant Tulsidas was left his physical abode on Krishna Paksha Tritiya in Shravan month in North Indian Hindi calendars. Some other claim it as Shukla Paksha Saptami of Shravan Month.

Tulsidas was born to Hulsi and Atmaram Dubey at Rajapur in Chitrakuta, a village on the banks of Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh in the year 1497 CE (Vikram Samvat 1554).

Goswami Tulsidas, the author of Ramcharitamanas, mentioned in many of his works that he met face to face with Lord Rama and Hanuman.

Tulsi Jayanti is celebrated with utmost gaiety in his birthplace (Rajapur) and many places in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, etc.
