Godavari Anthya Pushkaralu 2016 begins on July 31 and ends on August 11. We celebrate Anthya Pushkaralu to Godavari River only among all the 12 Pushkara Rivers.
Godavari Anthya Pushkaralu begins on Ashada Bahula Trayodashi and ends on Shukla Saptami in Shravana Masam as per Chandramana Panchangam followed in Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Godavari River Pushkarams held from July 14 to July 25 in 2015, when Guru transits through Simha Rashi (Leo).
Significance of Godavari Anthya Pushkaralu
Why only Godavari River has Anthya Pushkaralu? According to Avadhani Mohana Sharma (President of Manthani Veda Vignana Parishad & Chairman of Endowment Lands Protection Committee), Lord Sri Ramachandra walked through the entire Godavari River during his exile, Godavari River attained the sanctity that no other river had. So, we have the rituals of both – Aadi Pushkaralu and Anthya Pushkaralu for Godavari River.
Those who missed out of Godavari Pushkaralu of 2015 can perform Punya Snana in Anthya Pushkaralu.
