Gauri Puja 2016 during Ganesh Chaturthi Festival

Gauri Puja or Gowri Vratha is the main ritual during Ganesh Chaturthi festival. In 2016, Gauri Puja date during Ganesh Chaturthi is September 4. It is observed on Shukla Paksha Tritiya or Thadiya in Bhadrapad month.

It is also known as Gauri Thadiya or Gowri Thritiya, Swarna Gowri Vratha in Karnataka, 16 Kudumula Thaddi or Shodashoma Vratham in Andhra Pradesh, or Hartalika Teej Vrat in North India.

The Ganesha Purana has a reference on the birth of Lord Ganesha – Ganapati was incarnated from the bath powder while Goddess Parvati (Gauri) taking her bath.

Gauri Vratha Mahatmya or the importance of Gauri Puja on this day is mentioned in several Hindu scriptures.

Parvati Devi, the daughter of Himvanth (the King of Mountains), observed severe penance on this day to get Lord Shiva as her husband and succeeded. She made Shivling with clay and offered puja to the Lord.

Those who worship Goddess Gowri along with Shivling on this day would get good husband and their married life will be blissful with the blessings of the divine couple.

In 2015, Gauri Puja date during Ganesh Chaturthi was September 16.

In 2014, Gauri Puja date during Ganesh Chaturthi was August 28.

In 2013, Gauri Puja date during Ganesh Chaturthi was September 8th.

Gauri Puja 2012 date during Ganesh Chaturthi was September 18.
