It commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force. The first Republic Day was held on 26 January 1950. It is one of the three national holidays in India.

Why Republic Day is held on 26 January? To honour the memory of the ‘declaration of independence’ of 1930.

Republic Day parade in New Delhi and all state capitals is the main event held on 26 January. Keerthi Chakra, Param Veera Chakra, and other awards for bravery in military and police force, Padmashri, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and many more honorary awards are presented today.
