It falls in Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha Month in North Indian Hindi calendars. Mokshada Ekadasi is also known as Mauni Ekadasi in North India. It is believed Bhagvad Gita was first told to Arjuna by Lord Krishna on this day hence ‘Gita Jayanti’ is also observed on this day.
This year, it is also observed as Guruvayur Ekadashi in Kerala’s Guruvayoorappan Temple.
