Dhana Lakshmi Mata

Dhana Lakshmi is one of the forms of Goddess Lakshmi, second Lakshmi in Ashtalakshmi aspects. She is the Goddess of material wealth who gives money, gold and many forms of wealth.

Dhanalakshmi Mata is often depicted as having six arms and is seen wearing a red dress. She carries shanka and chakra in her two hands. She has a kalasha and lotus in her other hands. She holds a bow and arrow in one of her hands and in her other she gestures abhaya mudra with gold coins falling from it. She is seen seated on a lotus.

Legend about Dhana lakshmi takes us to the period of Goddess Padmavati and Lord Balaji. When Lord Balaji wanted to marry Padmavati, he had no money but she was the daughter of a king. So he borrowed money from Lord Kubera on the condition that he would not leave earth without repaying it.

Dhanalakshmi Puja:

In most of the places, Dhanalakshmi Puja is observed during Dhanteras & Diwali.

But the loan was so huge that he could not repay it. It was then that the Lord realised the importance of material wealth and Dhana Lakshmi blessed him. Lord Vishnu is known as indebted to Dhana Lakshmi.
