Guru Dattatreya Jayanthi or Datta Jayanti is observed on Margashira Pournami, the full moon day in Margashira masam. In 2017, Dattatreya Jayanti date is December 3.

Datta Jayanthi is celebrated with lot of gusto in Sri Pada Vallabha Kshetram at Pithapuram in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. This kshetram is also known as Padagaya Kshetram, Datta Kshetram or Vallabha Kshetram. Dattatreya Jayanti is a major festival at Ganugapur Sri Kshetra Dattatreya temple in Maharashtra.

Pada Puja, also known as Sri Datta Paduka Puja, is the main ritual during the celebrations of Datta Jayanti in Ganugapur Sri Datta Mandir. Pada Gaya kshetram located in Pithapuram, Andhra Pradesh, is also called as Sri Pada Sri Vallabha Samsthanam. It is popularly known as the birth place of Sripada Vallabha, the first divine incarnation of Lord Dattatreya.

    To my knowledge pitapuram is godavari dist and not in srikakulam dist.

    I am from the Jain family but pray all the lords. I do the parayan of Gurucharitra every year. Every year I use to go to Nrusinghwadi.

    My father was also used to pray Dattatray.

    I am from family of Anna patil of thane (mumbai) and willing to visit to pay homage to lord dattatreya but still could not do so . I am planning to come on rakshabandhan day.

    I am from family of Anna Patil , Thane,who visit often to pay his salutation to lord dattatraya at pithapuram. I am also eager to visit for the purpose. God only knows when it would be. Actually we had planned on number of occasions but failed due to one or the other reason. It would be now rakshabandhan, if lord dattatreya so wishes… My koti koti pranam…..
