Dasara Navaratri at Basar Saraswati Temple of Telangana is a biggest festival at the abode of Goddess of education and knowledge. In 2016, Basar Temple Dasara Navaratri begins on October 1 and ends on October 11.
Basara Saraswati Temple is one of the two famous Saraswati temples in India, the other being in Jammu & Kashmir. Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of knowledge and learning. Children are brought to the temple for the learning ceremony called as Akshara abyasam.
The origin and the history or the legend of Saraswati Temple, Basar, dates back to the period of Sage Veda Vyasa who performed penance at the river banks of Godavari.
Moola Nakshatra Saraswati Puja is observed with utmost devotion in Vijayawada Kanakadurga Temple, Srungeri Sharada Temple, Kollur Mookambika Temple, Basar Saraswati Temple, and many other temples where Durga Navratri celebrated.
