Attukal Pongala 2011 – 19 February 2011

Attukal Pongala, a grand festival celebrated at Attukal Bhagavathi Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is celebrated on 19 February 2011, Saturday. It is the biggest religious congregation in South India and one of the largest in women congregations in India. Attukal Pongala is celebrated in Kumbham month (February – March) every year. The temple festival has begun on 11th February and continues till 20th February 2011.

Women cook Pongala in front of Attukal Bhagavathy temple and offer it to the Goddess. In 2009, Attukal Pongala was registered in Guinness World Records as the largest congregation of women with nearly 3 Million devotees.
