Ardrotsava at Sringeri Sharada Peetham

Ardrotsava at Sringeri Sharada Peetham is one of the important festivals. In 2017, Ardrotsava date is January 11.

Ardrotsava takes place on January 5th with the Mahamangalarati to Lord Malahanikareshwara and Goddess Bhavani being performed early morning in the Jagadguru’s divine presence.

A large number of devotees participate in the Mahamangalaarti and the grand procession at around 5 AM. A procession of the UtsavaMurtis of Lord Nataraja and Goddess Bhavani then takes place. The procession includes three circumambulations of the hillock.

The Jagadguru leads the procession along the main streets of Sringeri till the municipality building. The function concludes with the Ashtavadhanaseva and the utsavamurtis are taken back to the Malahanikareshwara temple amidst the chantings of ShivanandalahariStotra composed by Sri AdiShankaracharya.

The previous night, Andhakasura Vadha is celebrated in front of the Pravachana Mandiram.
