Annabhishekam at Lord Siva Temples in Aippasi month

Aippasi month is one of the auspicious Tamil months. Annabhishekam is performed at Lord Siva temples in the month of Aippasi. In 2016, Aippasi Annabhishekam date is November 14.

The Full Moon day during Aippasi month is the most important day to observe the ritual.  Annabhishekam and Mahajala Puja are observed during the day.

In Lord Brahadeeshwara Swami temple at Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Annabhisekam is the main ritual during Aippasi month. It is performed once a year. On previous day of Annabhishekam, Maha Abhishekam is performed. The rituals are organized mainly under Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. Thousands of devotees participate in the event.

Annabhishekam is also performed on Aippasi Full Moon day every year in Senthilai Sundareshwarar temple. During this event, the rays of the full moon fall directly on Sundareshwarar Swami face.

In 2016, the Full Moon day of Aippasi month coincided with Kartik Purnima in other regions of India. Maha Jala puja, deeparadhana and Abhishekam are the main rituals in Siva temples & some Murugan temples on Aippasi Pournami.
