Falguna Amavasya is known as Kotha Amavasya in Andhra Pradesh. Kottha means ‘new in Telugu. This day marks the end of Hindu Year and the next day is celebrated as Hindu New Year Day. March 2012 Amavasya is the last day of Sri Khara Hindu Year and the next day is celebrated as Nandana nama Samvatsaradhi (Ugadi 2012-2013).
