Today, 25 November 2011 is Amavasya, No Moon day in Hindu calendar. It is Margashirsha Amavasya in North Indian Hindi Panchang & Karthik Amavasya in Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada and Telugu calendars. Amavasya begins on 24th November at 3.01 pm & ends at 11.40 am on November 25th.

In some places, this Amavasya is observed as Bhagvad Gita Jayanti.

Amavasya of November 2011 marks the end of Kartik month as per the lunar calendars (Amavasyant panchangs) followed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka.

There will be a surya grahan (partial solar eclipse) occurring on November 25, 2011. This Surya Grahan is not visible in India, UK and other Europe countries, USA, Canada and other American countries, UAE and other Gulf countries, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Japan, and all other countries of the world. This will be visible over some parts of New Zealand and Antarctic regions.
