Aani Uthiram Puja in Palani Murugan Temple

Aani Uthiram or Aani Thirumanjanam is the major festival celebrated in Palani Muruan temple, Tamil Nadu. Aani masam is well-known for Annabhishekam puja in Palani temples.

During Aani annabhishekam, the idol of Murugan is smeared and decorated with anna or cooked and aromatic rice. Along with the Palani hill temple, the ritual is also performed in Periya Udayar temple, Perianayaki temple and Thiru Aavinankudi temple.

On Aani Uthiram festival, Lord Nataraja is offered special Abhishekam in all temples of Palani. The presiding deity of Natarajar swamy is taken out on a procession along with Nalvar of the Tamil saints Thirugnanasambandar, Thirunavukkarasar, Sundarar and Manikavasagar.

Aani Uthiram or Aani Thirumanjanam date in 2017 is – June 30.
