4 November 2013, Annakut Mahotsav & Govardhan Puja

Today, 4 November 2013 is Govardhan Puja & Annakut Puja Mahotsav. It is observed on first day of Kartik month in Gujarati calendar. It is also considered as Gujarati New Year (Nutan Varsh Padvo).

Govardhan Puja (Sri Krishna Puja) marks the best beginning for the New Year ahead. As Diwali marks the Narakasur Vadha (demolition of Narakasur) by Lord Krishna, Krishna Puja is an important ritual on the day.

Annakut Puja (Chhappan Bhog) is also another important ritual observed in Gujarat and other Krishna temples all around the world.
