28 September 2011, Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana

28 September 2011, today Navratri begins in India with Ghatasthapana, installation of Ghata or Kalasha. Shukla Paksha Pratipada marks the beginning of Durga Navratri. On the first day, Maa Shailputri is worshipped as part of Navadurga Puja in Shakteya Sampradaya. Bala Tripura sundari Devi is the first day Goddess as per South Indian tradition of Navratri worship.

Mahakali Puja is observed as per Dashamahavidya worship on first day of Navratri. Brahmi Devi is the Goddess for Pratipada Navratri Puja as a part of Saptamatrika & Ashtamatrika Puja Vidhanam.
