25 October 2011, Kali Chaudas, Narak Chaturdasi, Roop Choudas

Today, 25 October 2011 is Kali Chaudas, Narak Chaturdasi (Chota Diwali) and Roop Choudas. It is the 2nd day of five-day Diwali festival celebrations. Hanuman Puja is also observed on this day in Gujarat and some other Western regions of India.

Kali Chaudas (Kali Choudash Puja) falls on 14th day in Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month in Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu & Kannada calendars. It corresponds with 14th day in Krishna Paksha of Kartik month as per North Indian Hindi calendars.

In Rajasthan, women observe Roop Choudas puja (Soundarya Divas) for better health and beauty.

In North India, Diwali Choudas is also observed as Kartik Masa Shivratri.

In some places, Akhanda Deeparadhana (lighting diyas for Diwali) begins today.
