25 August 2014 is Polala Amavasya Vratham in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and some parts of Karnataka. It is an important vratham dedicated to Goddess Poleramma.

It falls on Shravana Amavasya, No Moon day in Shravana masam as per Telugu calendar.

Married women observe Polala Amavasya vratam for better health and longer life of their children. Goddess Poleramma or Pochamma is known as the protector of children.
