In Swami Pushkarini Theertham, Mukkoti Dwadashi (Dhanurmasa Shukla paksha Dwadashi) is considered as auspicious day to perform punya snanam (ritual bath). On this day, mukkoti (3 crores) theerthams in the Earth merge in this Pushkarini hence taking holy dip on Mukkoti Ekadashi day is highly meritorious. In 2009, Swami Pushkarini punya kaalam falls on December 29, before Sunrise. The day before Mukkoti Dwadashi, Mukkoti Ekadashi or Vaikunta Ekadasi is observed. This teertham was originally in Vaikuntam and belonged to Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. Garuda brought it to the Earth for Lord Venkateshwara swamy. It is adjacent to Sri Balaji temple. Devotees perform punya snanan in it before visiting the Lord.
